New Rules for Merchants – EMV Smart Chip Cards

emvIn October 2015, businesses who accept credit cards must be prepared to accept the next generation of plastic – with embedded smart chips – or be responsible for fraudulent card-present transactions using cards with only magnetic strips.

In order to spur EMV adoption, credit card issuers have set October 1, 2015 as the date when fraud liability shifts to the party with the least-secure means of accepting payments. This means that the party without EMV-capable payment processing will be liable for counterfeit fraud.

Stay tuned for updates about this significant change for merchants.  We’ll keep you posted as we learn more.

Don’t be fooled by Intuit QuickBooks Enterprise (QBES) deep discounts

381Intuit regularly offers  QuickBooks Enterprise Solution (QBES) promotions to attract new users – the discount range can be 30% & 40% and sometimes even 50%.

As an Intuit Premier Reseller, we are able to offer all of the above.  However,  our firm’s goal is to guide prospects and upgrading clients toward the best deal for their needs.

Following are the details on the promotions and why we believe that most users should resist them:

QBES is now a subscription based model that requires annual renewal.  This is new,  introduced last October.  We don’t know what the 2016 retail pricing will be but we do know the promotion options:

  • 50% and 40% promos are only valid for the current year’s subscription.  Subsequent renewals will be at full retail pricing.
  • 30% promos are valid for two years (current and following year subscriptions).  Subsequent renewals will be at full retail pricing.

An available alternative is a perpetual discount offered by firms like ours:

  • 20% off the retail pricing for the life of the subscription

If QuickBooks Enterprise Solution (QBES) is part of  your firm’s foreseeable future, we advise you to choose the 20% option.

Please contact us if you would like further discussion.
